A fantastic victory for APOEL tonight after winning a tough away game against Ethnikos 4-0, thus securing a spot in the Cup quarterfinals. Starting off the game with a 2-0 score against us from the previous match, we knew we would have a hard time for about 90 minutes. A clear mind however and concentration were there amongst players, as always and at 17’, after a pass by Mirosavljevic, Pinto scored the first goal. The rest of the first half pressed hard and missed a number of chances without managed to score however.
The second half saw APOEL carrying on with the same rhythm, pressing hard and missing quite a lot of chances. Just when everyone thought that Ethnikos would be the one to make it through however, Paulo Jorge scored the second goal at the very last moments of the game, sending the match to extra time.
During the extra time APOEL just gave it everything it had, with a (justifiably) more positive state of mind. Mirosavljevic “ended” the game by scoring twice, at 97’ and 114’, giving APOEL the ticket for the next stage of the Cyprus Cup.
